SCFMA Awards $1,000 To Design School On Behalf Of Brown Jordan

The Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association has presented $1,000 to the Design Program at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale on behalf of Brown Jordan International, this year’s winner of the Lillian B. Winchester Best of Show award. The Wave Chaise from Brown Jordan, based in Pompano Beach, Fla., took top honors in this year’s Design Excellence Awards program co-sponsored by the SCFMA and Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. The chaise also won in the Tubular Materials category, one of eight product categories in the competition. The annual competition is designed to recognize outstanding design in the casual furniture industry. The winner of the competition receives a $1,000 award, which they are able to share with the design school of their choice. Lillian B. Winchester, a publicist who covered the casual furniture industry, established the awards program more than 20 years ago with dedicated funds from her estate. The Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association and the American Furniture Manufacturers Association are headquartered in High Point, N.C. – the furniture capital of the world – and together represent more than 200 leading U.S. furniture manufacturers and an additional 250 suppliers to the industry. About 80 of those manufacturers produce summer and casual products.
