Kautsch (Couch) is the title of a special show at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR from 15th to 21st January 2001, in which the high design quality of German upholstered furniture will be presented. The exhibition seeks to draw attention to the increased value of home living and life culture through utility-oriented upholstered furniture, designed and produced in Germany. The feature will present future visions as well as the present and past in upholstered furniture production. Overall, "Kautsch" will thematically cover the last 100 years, i.e. starting at around the beginning of industrial production of upholstered furniture. Coburg Polytechnic along with the Association of KölnMesse and the German Upholstered Furniture Industry are responsible for the special show. The exhibition in the passage between Halls 4 and 11 with its future orientation, will present upholstered furniture creations by renowned designers. In the "Present" sector, virtual images will be displayed which will also be posted on the World Wide Web. Original furniture, pictures and drawings will be shown in the "Past" exhibition section. The special exhibition will be equally addressed to the international specialist trade gathered in Cologne, the furniture manufacturers, designers and also the end-consumers admitted on the last two days of the fair.
