Hurtado Celebrates 60 Years Of Quality At October High Point Market

Hurtado, Spain's leading producer of upscale, European-style furniture, will celebrate its 60th anniversary this market with a "Night at Rick's Café Americain" party, taken straight from the move "Casablanca," on Friday, Oct. 20 at its showroom at 208 English Road. "We want to create a lot of excitement during the market in High Point," said Ana Hurtado, vice president. "We felt Rick's Café was the perfect theme for our party because the movie "Casablanca" was such a hit in the 40's, which is when our company was founded." Hurtado also feels the famous last words of the movie, "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," are a perfect slogan for the company, which is committed to providing extraordinary service to its business partners. On the evening of the party, Hurtado's guests will arrive at the showroom in a 40's-style Rolls Royce. After a tour of the newly decorated showroom, they will step into the dining area and feel as if they've stepped back in time and into Rick's Café Americain. There will be huge palm trees, a dim, smoky atmosphere, and tables adorned with white cloths and Tiffany lamps. A piano player and vocalist will complete the feel and, rest assured, "As Time Goes By" will be on the musicians' repertoire. Moroccan- and 40's-style hors d'oeuvres will be served by waiters donning Moroccan attire. Interior designers Alfredo Brito and Juan Arango have not only been busy transforming the dining room into Rick's Café, but giving the showroom a facelift as well. They are redoing the entire showroom to give it more of a fall feel. "We're changing the colors in the showroom to reflect more fall and wintry colors – the colors of the changing leaves," said Brito. He and Arango are using deep blues, reds and greens to accomplish this goal, as well as more plaids. Hurtado was founded in 1940 in Valencia, Spain. In 1994, it opened its first U.S. headquarters building near Miami, Fla. Today, it has earned the respect of customers in more than 40 countries worldwide.
