This January, buyers won't have to leave the San Francisco Mart to shop its temporary exhibits. The Mart is bringing the temporary exhibits, which had been housed for three Markets across the street at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (BGCA), back to the second floor of Mart 1 for Winter Market, January 18-21. The area will be called "Temps on 2". "Housing the temporary exhibits in Mart 1 gives buyers convenient access to a wide variety of product categories, styles and prices, and it gives the exhibitors an advantageous location ," comments Roseann Carini, senior vice president of leasing. "While the BGCA was a great space, we feel it is important to feature our temporary exhibits in the Mart whenever possible." While the temporary space will be smaller than the space at the BCGA, most exhibitors are happy to reconfigure their displays to realize the synergistic effect of being back in Mart 1. The Mart is moving the temporary area back to the second floor of Mart 1 because they have regained possession of the space, which had been leased by an Internet office tenant. "Office tenants will continue to be a very small percentage of the Mart's total rentable footage," assures Carini. The San Francisco Mart is the largest home furnishings market center in the West with 300 permanent showrooms containing nearly 600 manufacturers, as well as more than 50 temporary exhibit booths. The semi-annual Markets, held in January and July, attract thousands of retail buyers and designers from a broad domestic and international audienced.
