David Baratta Joins La-Z-Boy As Director Of Real Estate Development

La-Z-Boy, the nation’s leading manufacturer of upholstered furniture, recently announced that David Baratta has joined the company as director of real estate development. Baratta will be responsible for the development of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores“, including new locations and markets, relocations and/or expansions of existing sites. He will report directly to Kurt Darrow, president of La-Z-Boy Residential.
"David’s knowledge and experience in real estate will be integral to the continued growth of La-Z-Boy," said Darrow. "I am confident that under David’s leadership our company’s new store development will exceed expectations."
Baratta joins La-Z-Boy with more than 15 years of management experience in real estate, construction, and law. Most recently, Baratta was the vice president of real estate, construction and legal for Builders Square, Inc., a subsidiary of Kmart Corporation. He was promoted to that position from director of real estate of the same company. Prior to his responsibilities for Builders Square, Inc., he managed real estate development for Kmart Corporation in their southwestern region.
Baratta earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Detroit, and a juris doctorate degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He lives in Troy, Mich. with his wife Marcella and their two children, Paul and Jacqueline.
