Latex International Opens Interim Fabrication Facility At New Site In Naugatuck, CT

Latex International (LI) President and CEO Stephen S. Russo announced the company's new 33,000 square foot fabrication and distribution facility, Latex International Northeast is fully operational. Approximately 25 employees, retained after the May 14 fire that destroyed the company's manufacturing operation in Ansonia, have been hired to staff the new facility. With the addition of the new facility, LI is currently fulfilling the majority of East and West Coast customer orders within normal lead times. A second shift was added at the East Coast facility to help ensure peak efficiency. Orders are also being filled at Latex International West, an existing fabrication/distribution site near Los Angeles. Shipments of raw materials are flowing into both Latex International's CT and CA fabrication and distribution plants at a steady rate and are being used to fabricate mattress components for LI's customers. "We moved quickly to establish our Interim facility because we wanted to ensure that any gap in customer service was as minimal as possible," said Russo, who added that the company is absorbing the increased cost of importing raw material without affecting customer prices. Chris Miller, manager of Latex International's manufacturing facility in Ansonia prior to the fire, has been named Operations Manager of LI Northeast.
