Trillium Awards Renamed -- Now The Canadian Home Furnishing Award Will Represent Canadian Quality

The Canadian Home Furnishings Steering Committee recently announced the renaming of the Trillium Awards Program to the Canadian Home Furnishings Awards Program.
Laine Reynolds, chairman of the Steering Committee, has been quoted as saying the new name reflects a desire to position it as a national program without losing the equity and branding built in the prestigious and internationally known Trillium name. The Trillium Trophy will continue to be awarded to the winning entries.
According to the committee, the following major changes are planned in 2003 for these awards:
•Judging will take place on the Thursday and Friday prior to the January 2003, Canadian Home Furnishings Market.
•Expanded Jury - Three panels of five jury members each will focus on categories of product - case goods, upholstery, bedding and accents.
•Software is being developed to accommodate hand held tabulators that will automate the scoring of entries.
•The competition product category structure is being condensed and fine tuned to better reflect the way the home furnishings industry classifies products.
•The gala celebrations, will change from Friday night, traditionally the eve of the Canadian Home Furnishings Market to Sunday night, January 12, 2003.
•Awards will be presented in The International Centre, Aviation Ball Room, Hall 5, Toronto, Ontario.
•The dress code will be more comfortable and in tune with today's focus on business attire.
• Entries will continue to be judged based on their value, company service, product features and merchandising support.
