Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (NYSE: HVT HVT.A) reported record sales for the month ended December 31, 1999. Havertys' December sales increased 12.9% to $55.3 million compared with $49.0 million in December 1998. On a comparable-store basis, December sales increased 10.2%. Comparable-store sales do not include three expanded stores nor locations opened, closed or otherwise non-comparable during the last 12 months. Net sales for the twelve months of 1999 totaled $618.8 million versus $540.3 million for 1998, representing an increase of 14.5%. Comparable-store sales increased 12.1% for the year-to-date period.
