What do Courteney Cox Arquette, David Spade and La-Z-Boy have in common? They were all part of the recent Celebrity Dodgeball Tournament held in Los Angeles to benefit The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The nation’s leading manufacturer of upholstered furniture teamed with MTV and Variety magazine to sponsor the first annual event, which raised more than $90,000 in ticket sales and auction proceeds. In attendance were a variety of celebrities from television, music and sports, including event co-hosts Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette, Matthew Perry of "Friends," Brendan Fraser of "The Mummy," David Spade of "Just Shoot Me," Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys, Seth Green of "Austin Powers," Kimberly Williams and Courtney Thorne Smith of "According to Jim," and "Survivor" host Jeff Probst and contestants Ethan Zohn, Colby Donaldson, Jenna Lewis and Lex van den Berghe.
"We were delighted to be part of such a fun event and to support such a worthy cause," said Kurt L. Darrow, president of La-Z-Boy Residential. "Being a part of this tournament also gave us an opportunity to showcase our new look of comfort."
Each member of the winning team received one of five stylish La-Z-Boy recliners from the company’s sophisticated "New Look of Comfort" campaign.
La-Z-Boy also contributed a leopard print Catalina sofa with matching chair and ottoman to the event’s silent auction.
"We are thrilled with the success of the tournament, especially in its first year," said Tara Dhar of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. "We were very fortunate to have the support of such a well-known and respected company like La-Z-Boy. The event raised nearly $90,000 for the Foundation to ensure that children are at the forefront of every scientific breakthrough."
