IFDA Educational Foundation Announces New Board of Trustees

The International Furnishings and Design Association Educational Foundation (IFDA-EF), announced its new Board of Trustees.
The foundation chair is IFDA New York Chapter member Helen Wagner, manager, 3M Public Relations. Shirley Ebert of Design Concepts International, a member of the Georgia IFDA Chapter, will serve as vice chair and treasurer.
Wilma Hammett, FIFDA, an educator with the N.C. Cooperative Ext. Service and member of the IFDA Carolina Chapter, is director of Grants and Scholarships; Harriet Schoenthal, FIFDA and N.Y. Chapter member, is director of Marketing and Communications. Members of the Washington IFDA Chapter serving on the Foundation Board are Kerry Touchette, 2002 Symposium chair; Irma Dobkin, FIFDA, advisor; and Daphne Bloomberg, FIFDA, symposium sponsorship.
Highlights for the year include the 2002 Symposium Scheduled for Nov. 13-16 in New Orleans; it will feature seminars as well as architectural tours.
Scholarships and grant winners totaling $7,000 were also announced:
Heidi Betz of the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago, Ill., was awarded the Student Merit Scholarship of $1,500.
Claudine Whittley, Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa, interior design major, was awarded the Charles Mayo Scholarship of $1,000.
Jessica Chong Won Woo, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. industrial design major, was awarded a Student Scholarship of $1,000.
Bhelma C. Lewis, Nassau Community College, Garden City, N.Y., interior design major, was awarded a Student Scholarship of $1,000.
Dr. Betty Jo White, instructor in the Department of Clothing, Textiles and Interior Design at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan., was given a $2,500 grant to market the Universal/Lifespan Design concept among residential design professionals, students, and the general public by expanding and enhancing an existing Web site in this field and linking it with others for broader use.
The mission of the IFDA Education Foundation is to foster education and philanthropic activities benefiting individuals and institutions and refine and enhance the furnishings and design industries through education, philanthropic grants and scholarships.
