The Interior Design Show 2002 – A Heart Warming Experience!

If the response to The Interior Design Show was any indication, 2002 is destined to be a heart warming year for design! The 4th annual Interior Design Show, February 14-17, 2002 had a record-breaking 50,000 design-enthusiastos visit the Show, including over 7,500 design professionals and 450 media. The Opening Preview Reception presented by Mercedes-Benz Canada and Canadian House and Home in support of Casey House was a huge success with over 5000 enthusiastic guests previewing the newest in design, attending the launch of the soul soothing RETREAT installation, sponsored by the Globe and Mail, listening to internationally renowned design guru Sir Terence Conran and sampling hors d’oeuvres and beverages from the city’s best restaurants, caterers and suppliers all set to the hip tunes and provocative dancers and entertainers of Guvernment Productions. The design frenzy didn’t end there. On Friday, 7,500 eager design professionals discovered new resources and new collections from over 250 participants as well as attended presentations by International Trade Talks speakers (sponsored by AZURE and Toronto Economic Development) Ilk Suppanen, Piero Lissoni and Paola Antonelli. The Canadian audience embraced these internationally acclaimed design superstars from Helsinki, Milan and New York. The design die-hards persevered into the weekend and joined the thousands of visitors who came to see more products and to listen to Design Talks, presented by PARA Paints. Visitors were able to hear Karrie Jacobs, editor-in-chief of dwell magazine, Deyan Sudjic editor of Domus magazine and Chee Pearlman, design columnist for The New York Times talk about their views on design as well as listen to presentations from Canadian architects Brigitte Shim and Brian MacKay Lyons and New York based, South African architect Lindy Roy, who all spoke about their experiences creating retreat environments and dwellings in remote locations. All speakers received attentive audiences and line-ups afterwards of admirers with questions and congratulations! The Show wrapped up on Sunday, February 17, 2002 with all time high attendance and heart felt praise from exhibitors, visitors and the media.Coming up next year, the show dates will be February 13 to 16, 2003.
