MGM Transport isn't downshifting in today's tough economy. The leading carrier specializing in furniture transport and logistics, MGM is moving forward with an aggressive sales initiative geared toward providing innovative, reliable service to home furnishings retailers and manufacturers.
For starters, MGM has created the position of Vice President, Sales and Marketing to better serve the company's current customers and expand its base. Named to the new post is sales veteran Michael Caldiero. He comes to the furniture industry after 24 years with automotive industry supplier General Foam Corporation, which was recently sold to Foamex. Most recently Caldiero was the company's Automotive Business Unit Manager responsible for $45 million in sales and direct OEM relationships.
Caldiero is responsible for directing the MGM's overall sales and marketing efforts and for managing MGM's sales team nationwide. He will be based in New Jersey at MGM's Totowa distribution center.
"Caldiero is detail-oriented, driven, aggressive and dedicated -- just the qualities MGM needs to lead our expanding sales efforts," said MGM President Edward Massood.
"The economy is rough right now, so, more than ever, retailers and manufacturers need to know they've got the right transportation and logistics provider to give them the quality delivery, service and information they need to run their businesses well," Massood continued. "By adding Caldiero to our executive team, we're demonstrating our commitment to our customers and to the industry."
MGM has also appointed Tim Hylton to Regional Sales Manager with responsibilities for the West Coast and named Melissa Jimenez to the role of West Coast Account Executive. Hylton, who is based in High Point, will continue to manage North Carolina accounts. Jimenez will handle day-to-day needs of MGM's West Coast customers from the company's Pomona, California office.
Based in High Point, N.C., MGM Transport provides the best transportation service in the furnishings industry, with 30 percent faster transit time and 75 percent fewer claims than its competitors. The company offers 24-hour access to information on shipments and contents, plus expert guidance on how to use that information to better serve customers and improve business.
