The UK's first international exhibition dedicated to upholstery fabric, leather and trimmings launches in London, March 4-6, 2001. It is aimed at upholstery manufacturers, re-upholsterers, retailers and interior designers. London Fabric takes place at the Commonwealth Institute in London and will showcase new designs from suppliers, both mills and wholesalers from the UK, continental Europe, the Americas and Asia. The show is run by British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) association who is inviting over 10,000 international buyers, including their own 400 members. Why yet another show? There is no dedicated upholstery fabric show in the UK despite the size of the British upholstery market. London Fabric fills this gap. The UK show is an alternative to Decosit and Proposte. International buyers will value meeting new suppliers. UK companies will appreciate the opportunity to save time and money by travelling to a closer, easily accessible location. Who will be exhibiting? Suppliers of upholstery fabric, leather and trimmings. The show will be open to both mills and wholesalers to meet the diverse sourcing requirements of visitors. Why should suppliers exhibit? To meet new buyers. To sell new products to existing customers. To secure their share of the UK's £300 million market in upholstery fabric. Why should buyers go? To see and buy a world-class range of new fabrics, leather and trimmings from leading and emerging suppliers from around the world. Why London in March? London offers easy visitor access from the UK and overseas and an exciting visiting experience for both buyers and exhibitors. The March date has been carefully chosen to fit in the buying cycle of upholstery manufacturers. It does not clash with any other major dedicated furniture or fabric event in the world calendar. Who is running the show? British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM), the leading industry association in the UK with 400 members spending a large part of the £300 million expenditure on upholstery fabrics in the UK. BFM benefits from the advice and guidance of a steering committee made up of key representatives from both the textile and the upholstered furniture industries.
