Tyler Retail Systems, one of the nation's leading computer automation developers and system integrators for big ticket retailers, and the developer of the Internet-based worldwide retail network called Tyler.Net, has announced the completion and release of the first user definable "windows" technology for the retail industry.
"As a leader in delivering new technology to benefit the retail industry, we are extremely excited about the release of our new User Definable "Windows," said Tyler president Scott Tyler. "This represents an integral part of our overall effort to maximize the effectiveness of technology for retailers and to make our systems truly user-friendly."
At any point in the program, the user can hit a "hot key" and a window will open which contains a variety of information which has been pre-defined by the company's system administrator. This can include help information specific to where the cursor was at the time the user hit the hot key, company policies, even a concurrent application program for inquiries or data input. "Our User Definable 'Windows' can also go several layers deep, into additional programs for inquiries, data input or help assistance," added Tyler.
In a recent survey of Tyler clients, most indicated that they plan to utilize this new technology to create a truly functional "help" key. Most systems which offer a "help" selection are not actually all that helpful, since users must read volumes of cryptic information in an attempt to locate information concerning the specific issue they needed help with in the first place.
But with Tyler's User Definable "Windows", when a user hits "help" only the information that deals with the topic immediately at hand is displayed. "As we release this system to our clients, we are pre-loading the User Definable 'Windows' with 'help' information," said Tyler. "However, each client may modify or completely change the information which pops up once the hot key is pressed."
He said that User Definable "Windows" is precisely what the name implies--a personalized, customizable system defined and adapted by each company, "the ultimate 'Cliff Notes' for a retailer's employees" that will enhance their bottom line in many ways.
Tyler's User Definable "Windows" technology is available on both company platforms, their traditional server-based systems and on Tyler.Net, the company's Internet-based system. For more information concerning Tyler Retail Systems or Tyler.Net, check out the company's web site at www.tyler.com.
