Floatation Bedding Sales Remain Steady:

In an industry that many thought was slowing down, sales figures prove that floatation sleep products are in demand. According to the Specialty Sleep Association, the sale of floatation bedding products remained stable in 1997 and has remained steady for the past three years, based on water mattress valve sales provided by industry producer, Blue Magic Products. "Nearly 2 million hard-sided and soft-sided water mattresses were shipped in 1997," according to Carla Williams, Vice President of Sales for Blue Magic Products. "Floatation bedding is no longer in decline and represents a variable 8-10% of the overall bedding market." Floatation bedding provides a strong base to the overall specialty sleep category. Combined with air, foam, adjustable, futon and accessory products, the specialty sleep category represents approximately 20% of the total bedding market. The Specialty Sleep Association is a national trade organization of manufacturers and retailers engaged in the specialty sleep industry.
