The fringe benefits of being a Simmons Company retailer just got better. This February, Simmons Company introduces its "Fringe Benefits" sales contest which awards retailers up to $1 million in prizes and multiple opportunities to win. While the company has historically enjoyed tremendous success with its retail sales contest, Simmons elected to enhance the program in 1999 by offering participants more chances to win top-of-the-line prizes. Game components to "Fringe Benefits" include: Collect-and-Earn, Collect-and-Win and Instant Win. Some lucky retailers will be shopping at Simmons Company's "prize patrol" for prizes such as first-class airline tickets, cruises, a Cartier watch, Astro [ProCraft Boat, DVD Player, Pentium II computer, and a 27" TV, among others. How It Works The foundation of the "Fringe Benefits" contest is the Collect-and-Earn game, which opens the doors to additional opportunities to win prizes. Collect-and-Earn -- Participants accumulate game pieces for selling select Simmons mattresses. One game piece will be issued for each Premium Beautyrest® or BackCare® Ultimate set sold between Feb. 1 and March 1. Participants can redeem their game pieces for prizes offered in the "Fringe Benefits" prize booklet. The new dimension to Simmons' retail sales contest is the addition of Collect-and-Win and Instant Win stamps. Accompanied with each game piece will be either a Collect-and-Win or Instant Win stamp, giving retailers another chance to walk away winners. (Only Collect-and game piece recipients are qualified to receive these stamps.) Collect-and-Win - Each collect-and-win stamp issued displays a portion of a prize. Once all of the pieces of the prize are collected, the participant wins the prize displayed (similar to assembling a puzzle). Instant Win - An instant win stamp allows the retailer to know if he/she is a winner ... instantly. Recipients receive the prize printed on the stamp. "This is a great opportunity to reward Simmons retailers for their dedication and commitment to our products," said Doug Kinde, Simmons Company director of Beautyrest®. "We've designed this awards program to ensure all interests are addressed -- ranging from the sports enthusiasts to cigar connoisseurs. Our retail sales contests have always been successful and 'Fringe Benefits' will ensure we maintain that momentum." In the past, Simmons sales contests have helped to increase sales in participating Simmons accounts by as much as 15 percent, compared to non-participating Simmons accounts. Maker of Beautyrest®, BackCare® and the Connoisseur Collection, Atlanta-based Simmons Company employs more than 2,500 people in 18 plants throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
