Based Mattress Giant Acquires American Mattress Inc. D/B/A American Bed

Dallas based Mattress Giant Corporation announces its acquisition of Orlando, Florida based American Mattress, Inc. d/b/a American Bed on January 11, 1998. American Bed currently operates 10 locations in the Orlando, Florida metropolitan area which specialize in the retail sale of mattresses and related bedding products. Mattress Giant plans to operate the stores as American Bed locations for the next thirty to sixty days, and then convert them to Mattress Giant stores. The acquisition into central Florida expands Mattress Giant's Florida presence in the State to 37 retail outlets with plans to open and additional 10 to 15 stores by the end of this year. The Texas based chain currently has 110 retail locations throughout the United States with existing locations in Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Texas, Mattress Giant intends to operate over 200 retail locations by the end of 1999.
