250 Attend Party For Rick Barentine's Retirement

Over 250 of Rick Barentine's friends and associates turned out to wish him well on Monday, April 19 at the Furniture Discovery Center. The career recognition reception provided an opportunity for Barentine to receive congratulations and good wishes from furniture manufacturers, High Point government officials, and scores of High Pointers affiliated with Market activities during Rick's 22-year career as Chief Executive Officer of the International Home Furnishings Marketing Association. For the occasion, yard flags were especially designed and made featuring a Chippendale chair. The flags were displayed by beefeaters welcoming guests to the event. As a surprise, Rick was presented a book of memories of his furniture career. His friends had submitted written testimonies of their memories of Rick's career. These were assembled in a specially embossed book for his enjoyment. Barentine, 55, will retire from his position July 31. He will spend his time at his home in Blowing Rock, NC and his farm in Ashe County, NC. An avid traveler, he will begin his retirement travels with an extensive trip through Europe.
