Palliser Expands at SF Mart

Canadian manufacturer Palliser Furniture has signed a three-year lease to quadruple the amount of space they occupy at the San Francisco Mart. The move increases Palliser's presence at the Mart from 4,000 to 16,000 square feet. Palliser, which will show in space 301, joins Klaussner Furniture as another big brand-name showroom on the third floor of Mart 1. The new showroom will be open for the January Market, January 17 20. "Palliser's new showroom makes them one of the Mart's largest tenants," says Michael Gennet, president of the San Francisco Mart. "The larger space will give buyers increased access to the latest styles and product introductions from the imaginative designers and executives of this world class manufacturer." Roger Friesen, Palliser's senior vice-president of merchandising and customer relations, says that the expansion is part of Palliser's strategy to raise their profile on the West Coast. "We believe that San Francisco continues to provide an effective show venue that supports Palliser's long term strategy for growth in this market," he says. "The West Coast has not had the opportunity to experience the strength of the Palliser line until now," says Roseann Carini, the Mart's vice president of leasing and marketing. "The new 16,000 square foot showroom gives Palliser a platform to familiarize retail buyers with all the various product categories that they offer." Palliser is known for being innovative in both the design of its furniture and the dramatic presentation in its showroom. Their new Mart showroom, which is in an area previously renovated and occupied by a dot-com company, is ideal to showcase their product line. "We are delighted that Palliser Furniture, one of the leading brands in North America, has substantially expanded its presence in the San Francisco Mart," exclaims Gennet. "This long-term commitment demonstrates Palliser's confidence in the Mart as the leading Western regional market center." Palliser will host an open house in the new showroom from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2003. All furniture buyers are welcome to attend.
