Zapotec Software, the leading developer of trade allowance management software, is pleased to announce the recent addition of retired retail executive Joseph S. Davis to its Board of Directors. Mr. Davis brings the experience of a long and distinguished career in the retail industry, most recently having served as President and Chief Executive Officer of May D&F in Denver, Colorado, retiring in 1993. In addition, Mr. Davis currently serves as special visiting professor and executive in residence for the College and Graduate School of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado in Denver. "Having an experienced executive such as Mr. Davis join our leadership team is just another indication of our understanding of the retail community," said Doug Davidson, Chief Executive Officer of Zapotec Software. "He has one of the best retail minds in the business. His understanding of the relationships between retailer and vendor, along with his knowledge of the practical workings of this industry will be a great asset as we move forward." "Zapotec has found a true niche," said Mr. Davis. "Managing trade allowance programs has always been a challenge for retailers. Attempting to track programs from numerous vendors, each with their own set of rules, is exceedingly difficult. Zapotec's product, CO-OP EASY&, answers a real need in the marketplace." Test marketed in several locations across the country including Denver-based Gart Sports, CO-OP EASY® has drawn praise from executives who understand its potential. "Conservatively, I would estimate CO-OP EASY® added $200,000 to our advertising budget in 1997," said Fran Victor, vice-president of marketing for The Gart Sports Company. "In the world of 'co-op' every vendor is different. It can be so complex that it's virtually impossible to achieve maximum efficiency without a database. The Zapotec product is the first practical solution I've seen." Formed in Denver, Colorado, in 1993, Zapotec Software, Inc. offers a suite of unique trade allowance management and tracking software products that are specifically designed to help retailers and distributors manage and track trade allowance funds and maximize profits and cash flow. A sampling of Zapotec customer diversity includes Camera World, Gart Sports/ Sportmart, Ultimate Electronics, CellStar, Ltd., the good guys!, Mike's Camera and Winan's Furniture. Douglas A. Davidson, an entrepreneurial executive serves as Chairman and CEO of Zapotec. Nick Cavarra and Jennifer Bittner, co-founders, serve as President and Vice President.
