The 15th Bangkok International Gift & Houseware or the BIG 2002 came to a successful close with a remarkable growth in the number of exhibitors and buyers. The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) of the Ministry of Commerce reported that the number of exhibitors hit the record high of 729. The exhibitors were from China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The same source also indicated that the number of buyers at the fair soared 113 percent reaching as many as 16, 524. BIG will be : organized twice in 2003 (April and October) to provide more business opportunities for the buyers from all over the world. Under the new theme, “Everyday Living”, the April 2003 fair will reflect the functionality and practicality concepts of the new generation through an overwhelming range of solutions to make everyday lives simple, fun, yet elegant. At the fair, there will be about 700 exhibitors. These exhibitors are either manufacturers, exporters, distributors, wholesalers of various products such as gifts, decorative items and handicrafts, household products, home textiles, artificial flowers, Christmas decorative items, toys and games, stationery and many others. The fair in April 2003 will be staged over an area of 30,000 square meters at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC) from April 18-23, 2003. Admission is free; and the trade days are from April 18-21 (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) and the last two days are for the public (10:00 a.m. – 9.00 p.m.).
