The Unfinished Furniture Association (UFA) is pleased to announce its election to the 2003 Associations Advance America Honor Roll. Sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the national awards competition recognizes organizations that make significant contributions to the American society through innovation, education, skills training, community service and much more UFA won for its Charity of Choice Program. The campaign was created in the hopes of helping those less fortunate in the annual convention’s host city. Now in its third year, the program has had such overwhelming success, the association continues to gain support from its members. More than $35,000 worth of unfinished furniture and products was donated to a children’s home in Denver, Colorado at the 2002 UFA National Convention & Trade Show. In fact, the 2001 Charity of Choice is still reaping the rewards of the program and just last year raised more than $70,000 through an auction with the remaining unfinished furniture to benefit adults with disabilities in Nashville, Tennessee. “Our Charity of Choice Program has really grown in such a short time and we owe it all to the generous members of UFA,” said Sylvia Thompson, UFA President. “We are truly honored to be recognized for one of the best programs we offer within the association and thrilled we can make a difference in the lives of those fortunate.” UFA is a national trade association of more than 650 retailers, manufacturers and sales representatives in the United States and Canada whose mission is to support the growing unfinished furniture industry.
