BIFMA International announces the availability of the recently completed Standard for Woven Textile Characteristics Tex4.1-2004. The new standard defines policies for textile flaws and provides a common basis for differentiating the face from the back of a woven textile fabric and the top of the pattern. This document is the first completed publication from BIFMA's Supply Chain Management Committee, formed in mid-2003. The Textile Subcommittee analyzed the textile supply process for both "standard fabrics" that office furniture manufacturers purchase directly from the textile mills, as well as the direct or indirect supply of COM (Customers Own Material) textiles supplied by "jobbers". BIFMA's Textile Subcommittee worked closely with the Association for Contract Textiles (ACT) on this standard and the document applies to all sellers of woven textile fabrics. Copies of the Tex4.1-2004 Standard for Woven Textile Characteristics are available from BIFMA at no charge. Copies can be downloaded from the BIFMA website http://www.bifma.org under "standards", or contact the office directly at 616-285-3963.
