AFMA Annual Meeting Slated For November in Berrmuda

Captains of the U.S. furniture manufacturing industry will converge on Bermuda from November 12-16 for the 1997 American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA) Annual Meeting. Top officers from over 350 U.S. based furniture manufacturing member companies are invited to the summit of the Association's season of educational and professional development conferences. The thorny issue of Trade Dress will be addressed by two attorneys, Norwood Robinson presenting "Trade Dress-What It Is!" and Michael Robinson presenting "Trade Dress-What It Isn't!" Both attorneys are partners with Robinson & Lawing, LLP of Winston-Salem, NC. Trade Dress relates to the concept of intellectual property. The Presidential Lecturer Series will continue at the 1997 Annual Meeting, featuring Mickey Holliman, President of Furniture Brands International. Holliman will share his experiences in the furniture industry and thoughts on the what the future holds with meeting attendees. In addition to the Trade Dress presentation and the Presidential Lecture Series' the meeting business session will feature discussions led by Jerry Epperson of Mann, Armistead and Epperson; Barbara Alexander of Dillon, Read & Company; and Jeff Seamen of Rooms To Go. Pat Norton of La-Z-Boy, the 1995 recipient of the coveted Distinguished Service Award, will announce the winner of the 1997 Distinguished Service Award at the Annual Banquet. The Distinguished Service Award is bestowed annually upon one industry leader who has repeatedly gone above and beyond the call of duty in striving for excellence in both the industry and the community. AFMA furniture manufacturing members will receive complete registration materials shortly. AFMA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization for U.S. furniture manufacturers, with 350 corporate members representing 150,000 employees and more than 75% of domestic and global shipments of U.S. furniture.
