Excelsior Designs Signals Growth With Showroom Expansion New Space Boasts 10,000 SF

Excelsior Designs and its Casa Novalia division, manufacturers of fine Italian case goods and lifestyle furnishings, is growing again. The fourth showroom expansion in 8 years will add 3,600 square feet to the company’s permanent exhibition space in the International Home Furnishing Center’s Design wing, making room for 10,000 square feet of show space in time for the October 2004 furniture market in High Point, North Carolina. Excelsior Designs began showing their contemporary and modern designs there in 1988 occupying 1300 square feet in space D1110 of that building. A 2001 expansion, the company’s third, brought the total square-footage to almost 7,000. With its goal to feature more of the company’s products at the market, as well as to make room for new ones, altering the existing footprint is necessary, according to Steven Kayne, president. “We’re fortunate enough to be in a growth position to expand,” says Kayne, adding, “Future developments will warrant more space. There are some exciting programs coming.” While the existing showroom is comprised of a series of semi-enclosed vignettes, the new area will be constructed as an open space. “It will be presented in a more graphic, architectural and contemporary way,” says Bobbie Burns Hughes, design director. “It will be more like a showroom within the showroom, and it will more closely resemble an upscale-retail floor experience.” Products from both divisions will be featured in the new space. Some updates to the existing showroom are also planned. The IHFC space number and showroom entrance will remain the same. About Excelsior Designs, Inc.
