To introduce its brand new edition of Haven® magazine, the Home Furnishings Council is inviting media, retailers, and manufacturers to an informal “Haven Happening” at the HFIA display in the atrium of the Furniture Plaza Building (across from La-Z-Boy). “Happenings” are planned for both Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Attendees can chat with Executive Publisher Mary Frye, Editor Heather Paper, Executive Editor Bob Nightengale, and Chef Doug Warriner of Barbourville, Kentucky, a featured guest in the Holiday 2003 issue. Attendees will also get a taste of Chef Warriner’s special “napoleons” featured on page 26 of the new issue of Haven. The HFC encourages at least one retailer in each geographical market to offer Haven as an incentive for consumers to visit their store and to recognize that retailer as “the” decorating headquarters in that market. Retailers may place orders now for the Spring 2004 issue of Haven, which will be distributed in January. The pre-publication price of $1 per copy for the Spring issue of Haven is available through December 15, 2003; after that date copies will be $1.50 each. Manufacturers or retailers who would like customized editions may discuss their needs and pricing by calling 1-800-521-4663. The Home Furnishings Council is a non-profit organization that focuses on encouraging consumers to spend their time and resources on making their home their haven. The work of the HFC is currently managed by the Home Furnishings International Association, Dallas, Texas.
