Becker Furniture World’s Foundation Hosts 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Becker Furniture World Foundation announced that the stage is set for its 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 12th at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minnesota. Becker Furniture World owners, Doug and Julie Huseby founded the non-profit 501c3 organization in 1997 to help disadvantaged and other variously challenged people. The overall goal of BFWF is to help families throughout Minnesota who find themselves in need of basic furnishings. Becker Furniture World’s CEO, Doug Huseby, says the annual golf tournament has become a major revenue stream for the foundation. Huseby adds, “We’ve come a long way in the past ten years to build awareness for the Becker Foundation and the golf tournament alike. As we achieve more awareness, we receive more support from the business community, allowing us an opportunity to positively impact the community. The BFWF goal is really quite simple, we want to help as many challenged Minnesota families as possible, with each passing year surpassing the prior year.” With over 200 golfers expected to participate in Becker Furniture World Foundation’s Golf Tournament; the festive event comprising of furniture vendors, business professionals, and media representatives will team up together for 18 holes of golf and fun activities to help families in the area. According to Megan Harms, Events Coordinator for Becker Furniture World, “We’re hoping to spread the word about this fun yet important event so we may raise more money and in turn help more families.” Harms says this year’s fundraising goal of $100,000 appears promising and achievable. In the past 12 months, the Becker Furniture World Foundation provided over 150 families with basic home furnishing needs, 153 beds for children and $25,000 in grants for family and community-based non-profit organizations. As needs arise, the Becker Foundation works closely with local, state and national groups. BFWF partnerships include Sherburne County Faith in Action, Central MN Kids and Cars Safety Initiative, MN Crisis Nurseries Inc., Prevent Child Abuse MN, Central MN Habitat for Humanity and the Becker Community Resource Group in capacity building efforts to strengthen their services.
