The International Wood Products Association (IWPA) unveils new publication, Imported Wood "The Guide to Applications, Sources and Trends" during the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta, Georgia.   The publication is the first of its kind that focuses solely on imported wood use in the U.S. market.   Imported Wood is being distributed to more than 15,000 key wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors, architects and specifiers.   "This is the definitive source for the wood products industry on imported wood.  The magazine showcases some of the world's most beautiful, durable and versatile woods in unique applications and also shows readers where to find them --- through IWPA Members," stated Jim Ballin, IWPA’s 2003-2005 President.   "IWPA’s mission is to protect and expand the use of imported woods in the United States.  We feel we accomplished that and more with our first issue.  We hope this publication brings a fresh perspective on imported woods along with demonstrating how imported woods are being used to complement many products produced in the U.S.," added Brent J. McClendon, IWPA Executive Vice President.     The magazine features educational articles on sustainable forest management practices in developing countries that are making on-the-ground improvements.  Imported Wood also answers frequently asked questions about forest use and conservation.    Imported Wood serves as a quick reference for contacting members of the IWPA who can provide specific imported wood products---lumber, decking, flooring, plywood, veneer, lumber products, hardwoods, softwoods and other wood products.    The International Wood Products Association, established in 1956, is the leading international trade association for the North American imported wood products industry, representing 188 companies and trade associations engaged in the import of hardwoods and softwoods from sustainably managed forests.  Association members consist of three key groups involved in the import process:  Offshore manufacturers, U.S. importers and the service providers that facilitate trade.   Copies of Imported Wood may be purchased for $5 each (Members); or $15 (non-members).  Order forms may be printed on-line at www.iwpawood.org , or by contacting IWPA – 4214 King Street – Alexandria, Virginia   22302; tel: 703/820-6696; fax: 703/820-8550; info@iwpawood.org .  IWPA accepts checks, money orders and most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
