Wood Bros Introduces 80th Anniversary “Chateau Collection”

2004 marks 80 years of furniture making for Wood Bros (Furniture) Ltd, over which time the company has developed into the UK's leading manufacturer of reproduction oak furniture. To celebrate this landmark, the company is introducing the Chateau Collection, a group of dining, occasional, display and entertainment pieces, at this October's High Point Furniture Market. Taking its influence from the simple lines and essential elements of medieval architecture and construction, the Chateau Collection skilfully combines characterful English and European oak with faux granite. The collection also sees the introduction of a seventh oak finish, Natural, to the Wood Bros line in which all Chateau Collection pieces are available. The lighter Natural complements the darker faux granite, and with the plain panels and glass, offers a tactile mix of materials for today's consumer. The Chateau Collection is also available in most of the other six finishes. Dining: The 2525 Table features a rustic X-frame supporting a heavy, solid table top, and can be custom made up to 12ft long. To accompany the table, there is a choice of either the 2526 Bench, which echoes the X-frame base, or ladder backed 2523 Dining Chair and 2524 Armchair. Both chairs are available in a choice of leather, rush or fabric seats and feature elegant turned legs. The 2535 Sideboard, which measures L74 x D17_ x H33ins, is perfect for larger families. Two full height cupboards at each end plus a drawer and two smaller cupboards in the centre create plenty of space for crockery, cutlery and general kitchen paraphernalia. The 2535 Sideboard can be purchased with a faux granite top if desired and, as with all pieces in The Chateau Collection, is available with optional arched, gothic carving. Smaller than the 2535 Sideboard but similar in design, the 2517 Serving Cupboard is ideally suited to more compact entertaining spaces. This multifunctional unit measures a slim-line L54 x D13 x H36ins and features optional faux granite insets on the top. Abundant storage is created through the incorporation of three drawers situated above two cupboard doors. Occasional/Accent: From small hall tables to larger cocktail tables, Wood Bros offers a distinctive choice of occasional/accent pieces as part of The Chateau Collection. The 2533 Occasional Table uses a combination of wood and faux granite to create a stylish and practical piece of furniture. Measuring L48 x D24 x H21ins, the Table features two open shelves positioned between two carved panels at either end. A piece of faux granite takes pride of place in the centre of the top and hinged flaps reveal hidden storage compartments either side. The 2522 Console Table uses the combination of faux granite and wood to great effect. A large faux granite (optional) insert creates a practical top to the Table, with gothic arches carved on the single central door panel. The Console Table has been left open either side of the door allowing for larger items to be displayed. The piece measures L51 x D13 x H33ins. The accompanying 2530 Mirror, measuring the same width, sits perfectly above the Table. The Chateau Collection also includes two small cabinets that whilst ideal for hallways would be equally suitable as side tables in other rooms of the home. The 2531 Pedestal Cabinet measures a compact L22 x D13 x H36ins and features a single drawer sitting above an elegant carved door panel. The 2534 Hall Stand features an optional faux granite top, a single drawer, beautifully turned legs plus additional display space on the lower shelf that sits just above the ground. Display: An entirely new shape to the other Old Charm pieces in the line, the 2513 Bookcase is lower than existing pieces (L54 x D11 x H39ins), allowing the top to be used as display space. The Bookcase contains three shelves for books and reference material, plus an optional side cupboard featuring a gothic arched leadlight door. The 2520 Corner Cabinet, measuring 78ins high, provides excellent display space whilst maximising available wall area. Elegant gothic arched leadlight doors feature as part of the three-shelf upper display area highlighted by the easi-touch lighting system. A single cupboard door below, featuring optional gothic carving, provides further storage space. Similar in style to the 2520 Corner Cabinet, the upper portion of the 2519 Display Cabinet (L34_ x D14_ x H69ins) is made up of two gothic arch styled leadlight doors with three glass shelves spanning the width of the piece. Two lined drawers are positioned directly underneath, all of which sits on top of a stand. Larger items can be displayed on the lower shelf, positioned a few inches from the ground. Entertainment: The 2529 Corner Video Cabinet has been designed to fit snugly into most corners whether it a lounge, sun room or even a bedroom, ensuring that it does not dominate the room (H30 x W48ins). With plenty of space for a wide screen TV on the top, the Cabinet boasts four open shelves underneath - enough for all the modern high tech equipment.
