Bauer International – celebrating the adventuresome spirit of the company and its founder Ken Bauer – is announcing a "New Campaign" at the High Point Market this fall, including the launch of a 10-piece campaign furniture line, the debut of the company's NYC showroom and the appearance of a giant Asian elephant at Bauer International's annual Market Square cocktail party on October 18. "As the furnishings industry moves into the next era, we have a multitude of interesting and exciting things to share with market-goers," Bauer said. "We simply decided to invite the tallest female elephant in the United States because she typifies the global spirit of adventure and old world charm – plus, we thought it would be fun," said Bauer, who has a knack for mingling adventure and business.
Bauer, who recently completed a tour of the Kalahari in Africa, said he and his wife, Dee Ann, were inspired by the exotic nature of the elephants in the wild. "These huge animals touched our hearts and minds and we wanted to share this awesome beauty with the people of High Point and the furniture industry."
A New Campaign: Hand-Embossed Leather and Brushed Stainless Steel Furniture
Bauer, a veteran traveler who often gains inspiration for his furniture designs during journeys to faraway places and launched his company more than a decade ago, will exhibit a new line of campaign furniture at the 2003 Fall market. The Bauer International "New Campaign" furniture line features hand embossed leather and brushed steel that is designed after the British campaign furniture of the 1890s. The collection includes a bar, bar stool, director's chair, side table, club chair, ottoman, coffee table, console and butler tray table. "This campaign line truly celebrates a new era, uniting elements of the past with functional, current style," said Bauer.
In addition to the brushed steel and hand-embossed leather pieces, Bauer International brings a fresh approach to all-weather wicker with a dynamic colors and unique styling reminiscent of the pieces found in European bistros. The new all-weather wicker line features mosaic bistro chairs, tables and lounge chairs in multiple colors including light blue, dark blue, fennel green, a mosaic and natural rattan.
Bauer International Opens New Showroom at New York Design Center (NYDC) With new lines and expanding markets, Bauer International recently opened a new showroom at the New York Design Center (NYDC) in the Apropos Showroom at 200 Lexington Avenue in mid-town Manhattan. "The New York Design Center, which is the nation's oldest furniture showroom, provides a great environment for the Bauer lines because our corporate culture celebrates designs of the old world, but presents them in new, attractive ways," Bauer said. The New York showroom, which spans 1,500 square feet, was the site of an opening celebration on September 16th, bringing interior designers, architects and others industry executives to view pieces from Bauer International's Havana, Schooner, Serengeti and Bombay Collections. The new showroom brings the total number to four with Bauer International also operating showrooms in Atlanta, Denver and the 6,000 foot High Point facility, located at 504G in the Suites at Market Square.
Celebrate the New Campaign "Bauer Style" with An Asian Elephant:
To commemorate the "new campaign," Bauer International proudly announces that it will host the giant Asian elephant at the 2003 High Point Market during the company's annual cocktail party on October 18th. The elephant – who is the tallest female elephant on record in the United States – will journey down Commerce Avenue between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., then make her way back to Market Square for the evening's festivities. Bauer International's furniture designs often take inspiration from Asian and African influences.
