Runyon Company Announces Move To Larger Facility, Faster Turnaround Times, Larger Product Line.

“That's it,” said L.P. Runyon, President of Runyon Company, maker of handmade steel and soapstone tables. “I've outgrown my current manufacturing space and I need to hire some help.” With orders in excess of projections from both the New York International Gift Fair and the Rosen Show in Philadelphia, Runyon Company finds itself ready and able to move into bigger and more all-inclusive manufacturing facilities. “I had been working in a small, 600 square foot shop in Peterborough, NH and using separate warehouse space in Jaffrey, NH,” says Runyon. “As business increased, traveling back and forth from my warehouse space to my shop where I ship was very time consuming. Plus, because I'm doing more and more shipping, the space that I need just to store my shipping supplies has increased quite a bit. I needed a facility in which I could build, store, and ship my tables.” The company has moved it's manufacturing to a much larger facility located on Main Street (Route 101) in Dublin, NH. It's a great facility, says Runyon. “I've taken over about 3,000 square feet in the back of the building.” Tom Judd, owner of the former High Standard building where Runyon has taken space, plans to create artist studios and professional offices in the two buildings. Renovations to make that happen have already begun. An excellent location for manufacturing, plus access to a loading dock for shipments, Runyon Company feels that this will be its new home for some time. The company has future plans to move its corporate offices to the same building. Along with his new space, L.P. Runyon has begun the process of hiring a manufacturing assistant. “With some production help, I can devote more time to designing new products,” he says. Runyon Company furniture will always be handmade, and will always be made in the US by skilled craftsman. “It just won't always be my hands doing the actual creating,” says L.P. A sculptor by training, Runyon plans to put all of his creative energy into design. “Every piece of furniture I create has my name on it,” he explains, “that's why I know that quality won't be an issue. I'll never let a piece of inferior work leave my shop.” “This move is great for us,” he explains, “because it will mean faster turnaround time for our customers, and a larger product line from which to choose from.” Three new round tables have already been introduced. “I'm also going to be coming out with a wine rack and a table that will double as a magazine rack.” Runyon Company will be exhibiting this fall at The Paradise City Shows in Northampton and Marlboro, MA as well as at the Fine Furnishings Providence Show. The company will also be exhibiting in Charlotte, NC, in December at the American Craft Council show.
