Readers of the Sustainable Solutions brochure will note: -Most American hardwood forests are in the eastern half of the country. Growth has far exceeded the amount of hardwood harvested every year since 1952. -The volume of hardwood in U.S. forests has increased from 185 to 352 billion cubic feet since 1953 - an increase of 90 percent - attributable to long-standing sustainable forestry practices. -The predominant harvesting method for American hardwoods is single-tree selection (not clear-cutting), which complements the natural cycle of self-replenishment in hardwood forests. -More than 7 million private individuals and families own fully 73 percent of all hardwood forestland in the U.S. The Sustainable Solutions hardwood sample package is available to professionals at $25.
