Roy Calcagne To Head Universal’s Upholstery Division

Universal Furniture International, Inc. announced the appointment of Roy R. Calcagne as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the company’s newly formed upholstery division. Under Calcagne’s direction, Universal will design and manufacture a full line of stationary fabric and leather furniture slated to launch in early 2004. An industry veteran in both furniture and textiles, Calcagne was vice president of merchandising for Broyhill Furniture, vice president of sales for Joan Fabrics and upholstery buyer for Macys New York. “Roy understands all facets of the upholstery business,” says Universal’s President and CEO, Harvey Dondero, “His knowledge and skill will help us make this new division successful for both our company and our customers.” “Universal has a heritage of creating innovative, successful business strategies, and I look forward to developing an upholstery division that uses those inventive techniques to bring the best possible product to the marketplace for our retailers and for consumers,” notes Calcagne.
