Three students at leading universities with home furnishings programs have been selected to receive Celia Moh Scholarships for the upcoming academic year. The scholarships will pay each student’s full tuition, including room, board, books and fees. Receiving scholarships are: Coury L. Cunningham, a rising senior at East Carolina University, majoring in Interior Design; Carrie L. Gillispie, a High Point University rising junior, majoring in Furniture Marketing; and Erin E. Peters, a rising senior at High Point University, majoring in Interior Design. The students were notified of their selection in April. The three recipients join four returning scholars from universities around the country. Recipients who maintain their academic eligibility may renew their scholarship for up to three undergraduate years. Five additional Celia Moh scholars are receiving their degrees this spring and two received their degrees in December 2004. The Celia Moh Scholarship was established in October 2001 by furniture industry entrepreneur Laurence Moh to honor his wife, Celia. The scholarship program, funded by Mr. Moh’s initial gift of $3 million, was established to provide full tuition scholarships for students whose academic endeavors would logically lead to careers in the home furnishings industry. The application process required candidates to complete a questionnaire, write a personal essay, obtain instructors’ recommendations and provide a college transcript illustrating exceptional academic achievement. The scholarship committee that selected the students is comprised of notable home furnishings executives. For more information, please visit www.mohscholarship.org.
