Zocalo® introduces Echo, an entirely new collection concept devoted to the mid-century modern design ethos. Echo's combination of mid-century styles borrow design cues from the classics, but its price points don’t ask consumers to dip into their retirement accounts to bring home stylish designs.
Echo Collection designers, Jorge Jaramillo and Margaret Leigh, created the new collection, with its warm, livable aesthetic, to appeal to a broad customer base. Echo allows retailers to carry a variety of modern designs on their sales floors without alienating the more traditional customer.
The Echo Collection was created so that each piece can be mixed and matched or shown in a unified group, offering retailers a variety of choices for eclectic and affordable modern display ideas in just one collection. And, in the true spirit of modernism, Echo designs are manufactured from innovative materials such as bamboo and eco-friendly polymer weaving, offering fresh looks currently absent from the marketplace.
Of the nearly 100 new pieces gathered under the Echo Collection name, three distinct groups make up the new collection: Echo, Otto Mocha, and Otto Ebony. In combination with the Echo Collection, Zocalo will display new leather platform beds and several leather sets to round out this October's massive new offering at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point.
The Echo group’s cross-grained bamboo veneers, bent plywood, and simple silhouettes combine with a warm amber patina offering an elegant study in contrasts. Sensuous plywood curves also serve as door and drawer handles, while chestnut finished legs and feet on case pieces offer a starkly contrasting color palate and definitive style. Bamboo, selected for its beauty and durability, is also an eco-friendly, renewable resource that is rarely seen in mass furniture production.
The Otto Mocha and Otto Ebony groups are warm and inviting due to the juxtaposition of textured polymer weave with sleek wood frames covered in a rich chestnut finish. Circular, oxidized metal drawer pulls and inset door and drawer panels complete the sophisticated profiles. The plastic polymer weaving used in Otto is non toxic and recyclable and is favored for outdoor furniture designs because of its durability.
"Our goal with Echo is to give retail customers a high-end, modern design studio look at an approachable price point without sacrificing quality," said Danny Olivas, Zocalo's Marketing Director. "The Echo designs use some of the most progressive materials we've seen in our market, combined with a merchandising strategy that offers retailers an assortment of eclectic yet unified pieces from the modern furniture genre. We think Echo is comparable with classic modern designs, but at price points that make the collection available to elite collectors and first time furniture buyers alike."
Retail price points range from $149 for the Otto 2 Shelf Nightstand to $1099 for the Echo Armoire.
