The Unfinished Furniture Association (UFA) Announces Sylvia Thompson's Election As President

Thompson's election was announced at the 2002 UFA National Convention & Trade Show recently in Denver, CO. She replaces outgoing president, Susan Samter of John Greenleaf Furniture, who now serves on the board as past president. As president of the board, Thompson serves a one-year term as the official spokesperson for the association and assists the organization in addressing industry related issues. "I have grown with this association and with the industry," said Thompson. "I'm looking forward to growing even more as a person in my new role and am excited about all the new opportunities on the horizon for UFA." Thompson serves as co-owner of Sonshine Furniture in Aurora, Colorado. She graduated from Moorhead State University in Minnesota with a degree in secondary education and language arts. Prior to joining her husband, Tom, at the store, Sylvia taught for several years. She now takes great pleasure in educating her customers on the unfinished furniture industry and says, "give me 10 minutes and they'll graduate from unfinished furniture 101."
