Classic Gallery Group has named Sam Dix national sales manager responsible for building and overseeing a sales force that will represent the company's expanding lineup of diverse products featuring upholstery, case goods, occasional and rugs.
Classic Gallery Group has added four new companies to its line since last fall.
Dix is one of nine new sales representatives demonstrating to upscale retailers and designer showrooms across the country how this new one-stop source that is tailor-made for discerning consumers can generate more sales and profits for their stores.
Classic Gallery Group underscored its plans for aggressive growth last fall by introducing Mark David Home -- a broad line of fashion-forward bedroom, dining room, entertainment centers, and rattan and leather seating. Mark David Home followed its successful debut with the widely acclaimed Vladimir Kagan Collection at the April International Home Furnishings Market.
Next, Classic Gallery Group launched eXL Designs -- a totally new company specializing in upscale, design-driven contemporary upholstery -- at the April market to rave reviews and orders that excelled even the most optimistic predictions.
Since then, the company has added Americo, a fine line of occasional tables crafted in Europe; and Zaki Oriental Rugs, a favorite of interior designers worldwide.
Completing the lineup is Classic Gallery, known for more than 30 years for its transitional styling, innovation and versatility.
Dix, who began working in the industry in 1964, has served as sales representative for Preview since 1983, including six years as sales manager. He was also buyer and manager at Colby's Home Furnishings in Chicago for 13 years before joining Preview.
"We knew we had to bring in a powerhouse, a person who could organize and inspire a sales force to share this increasingly impressive one-stop source across America," said Charlie Greene, president of the Classic Gallery Group. "We found him in Sam Dix, a man who has earned an incredibly high level of respect from everyone who has ever worked with him. We are confident that Sam will help take this company and our retail/designer partners to the next levels of successful business together."
In addition to his responsibilities as national sales manager, Dix will represent companies in the Classic Gallery Group in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Other sales representatives new to the company are:
• Peter Bernstein -- New York City and northern New Jersey
• Kevin Brady -- Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas
• Eric and Jodee Davis -- Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, western Pennsylvania, western New York and Toronto
• Bob Hacker -- Florida
• Jimmy Redmond -- North Carolina, South Carolina
• Doug Higgins -- North Carolina, South Carolina
• Kim Voy -- California, Arizona, Utah, Hawaii and Nevada
• Tom Sarkola -- Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa.
"With companies like these and a sales team like this, I believe I just got the best job in the furniture industry," Dix said. "Charlie Greene, Mark Norcross, Maxie Doby and others have put together an outstanding one-stop source for fashionable home furnishings. It's my job to make sure retailers and designers know that and understand that we are absolutely committed to helping them improve their business. We're ready to roll."
