In addition to the more than 50 educational courses at INTERIORS 07: The ASID Conference on Design, Thursday, March 15, through Sunday, March 18, 2007, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) will also feature a full track of experiential educational sessions that immerse attendees in all that San Francisco has to offer. Attendees can choose from more than a dozen hands-on offerings on Friday, March 16, from 3 – 5 p.m., which explore various San Francisco neighborhoods. Experts will be on location to lead participants through each design-related activity.
Event participants can:
- Experience San Francisco firsthand with an insider’s look at “boutique” hotels, lead by the creative director of Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel company. This tour includes visits to the Hotel Phoenix, the Hotel Rex and the four-star Hotel Vitale, along with a look at new property case studies and the company’s unique concept development process.
- Expand knowledge of state-of-the-art hospitality design during a tour of AT & T Park, formerly Pac Bell Park. Heralded as one of the country’s best baseball stadiums, the park was designed with the fan in mind. Visitors will see how fun is designed and get a special look at the park’s nine-foot tall statue of Willie Mays, 80-foot Coca Cola bottle with playground slides and the miniature park that has become a magnet for visitors of all ages.
- Explore the new Haight-Ashbury’s exclusive boutiques, high-end vintage shops and restaurants and see how the scene has changed. Hospitality designer Bruce Goff, ASID, will illustrate the transformation of this new commercial center and explain how the neighborhood evolved from ‘60s hippie culture to a new, urban hot spot.
- And much more! For a full list of offerings and to register, visit www.asid.org/interiors07.
