More than 1,000 interior designers and leaders in the interior design industry will converge in San Francisco March 15 – 18 to attend INTERIORS 07: The ASID Conference on Design. This year’s conference boasts a variety of workshops, tours and special events lead by the best of the profession. Leading experts from design and business will be keynote presenters, including Fred Dust, leader, IDEO Smart Space; and sketch artist Jay Shuster, concept designer, Pixar Animation Studios, who will take attendees on a one-of-a-kind studio “tour.” Another highlight of the conference will be “Jubilation: ASID Foundation Fundraiser,” an evening of cocktails, food and fun with special live and silent auctions, held Friday, March 16, 6 – 8 p.m. Proceeds from the event will fund innovative research, education initiatives and scholarships for the ASID Foundation. An awards gala, “Celebration: The ASID Design Awards,” will honor distinguished designers on Saturday, March 17, 6 – 8:30 p.m. The conference concludes with the Conference Closer on Sunday, March 18, 11 a.m. – noon, where the new ASID ad campaign and location for INTERIORS 08 will be unveiled. Experts will also address significant design topics under six professional tracks: sustainable design, business of design, design practice, universal design/aging in place, design specialties and career basics. Highlighted sessions include: “The Impact of Workplace Design on Generational Differences” by Sandy Crocker, diversity specialist; “Environmental Psychology and Interior Design: a Meaningful Collaboration” by David Kopec, Ph.D., CHES, IDEC, New School of Architecture and Design; “What Are Interior Designers, What Do They Want & How Can I Work With Them?” by Linda Elliott Smith, FASID, education-works; and “Portfolio and Resume Review – For Students and New Designers,” a one-on-one review session with members of the ASID Board of Directors.
