Entry Deadline Extended For Awards Honoring Home Furnishngs Media

The American Home Furnishings Alliance will present its 2007 HOME Awards at the Spring 2007 High Point Market in High Point, N.C.
AHFA developed the HOME awards to “Honor Outstanding Media Efforts” in home furnishings coverage. The awards recognize and encourage reporting that increases awareness of home furnishings among consumers and inspires them to improve their quality of life by enhancing their home environment.
Entries are accepted in four categories: Newspaper, Magazine, Consumer Broadcast and Trade (print or broadcast). AHFA will present the awards Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Opening Day Press Breakfast of the High Point Market. AHFA’s Public Relations Council, composed of top communications professionals from leading home furnishings companies, will serve as judges. In addition, AHFA will invite the 2006 HOME Award winners to participate in the 2007 competition as judges. (2006 winners are not eligible to enter the 2007 competition.)
Guidelines for Entry:
Newspaper & Magazine Entries: Entries should be submitted by a single writer and include a completed entry form and 3 to 5 different clips published between February 1, 2006, and January 31, 2007. Freelancers may submit entries from more than one publication. Entries will be judged on the degree to which they do one or more of the following:
- Raise the consumer’s awareness of and interest in new home furnishings products or trends.
- Inspire consumers to enhance their homes with new home furnishings products.
- Provide consumers with information to help them make home furnishings buying decisions.
Consumer Broadcast Entries: Entries should be submitted by a single journalist and include one VHS video cassette, not to exceed 10 minutes, of programming aired between February 1, 2006, and January 31, 2007. Tapes may be edited and may contain a single broadcast or portions of several broadcasts. Entries will be judged on the degree to which they do one or more of the following:
Raise the consumer’s awareness of and interest in new home furnishings products or trends. Inspire consumers to enhance their homes with new home furnishings products. Provide consumers with information to help them make home furnishings buying decisions.
Trade Entries: Entries should be submitted from a single journalist and include a completed entry form and 3 to 5 different clips published between February 1, 2006, and January 31, 2007, OR a single VHS video cassette, not to exceed 10 minutes, of programming aired between February 1, 2006, and January 31, 2007. Tapes may be edited and may contain a single broadcast or portions of several broadcasts. Entries will be judged on the degree to which they do one or more of the following: Raise industry awareness of consumer marketing issues, consumer trends and product trends. Help industry executives better understand today’s consumers. Spotlight effective industry public relations or marketing efforts.
