TruckSkin, LLC, a leading provider of specialized fleet vehicle graphic programs, has announced it has been selected as a vendor partner for IKEA San Diego’s home delivery program.
The move marks the first time that an IKEA location has used its own fleet and employees to provide in-home delivery. As part of the program, TruckSkin has wrapped each of the IKEA San Diego delivery trucks with a changeable ‘second skin’ vinyl graphic that IKEA will change to coordinate with the store’s marketing calendar.
According to IKEA Marketing Manager Toni Banuelos, the program provides better service for their customers and the vehicle graphics add extra mileage to the store’s advertising plan. “In the past we paid mobile billboard companies to advertise our message. But adding TruckSkin graphics to our own vehicles fit perfectly with our plan to bring the delivery process in-house. This allows us to take advantage of our existing resources. In fact, when we need additional media support, we have our drivers drive the trucks around targeted areas.”
Joe Lapekas, TruckSkin owner, says his team enjoys working with such a well-respected company. “IKEA is very forward-thinking and their staff really understands the benefit of using their fleet as a competitive marketing advantage. TruckSkin is proud to be associated with IKEA’s first in-home delivery program.”
Ms. Banuelos says the current test calls for three separate sets of graphic designs for the IKEA San Diego fleet, but the program could easily expand from there. “Usually in the IKEA world when an idea is proven to work well, it gets adopted by other locations. So far, the in-home delivery program has been advantageous for our customers and for our marketing efforts.”
