Abbyson Corporation announced the opening of its first retail venture, The Power of Home.
The Power of Home, an alliance with multinational shopping mall powerhouse The Westfield Corporation, is a completely new vision in home furnishings created with the consumer in mind. The Power of Home boasts the slogan “Your vision, Your design, Your home”, and its flagship store is projected to open in the completely remodeled Westfield Topanga Canyon mall in May 2007.
The Power of Home will join newcomers Michael Kors, Coach, Burberry, and a brand new Neiman Marcus to be part of Westfield Topanga’s landmark renovation project estimated at $620 million in total projected sales and 1.6MM square feet.
The concept of The Power of Home is simple: to provide a wide variety of products to the consumer at middle to upper level prices, but this includes a twist. The Power of Home will feature a fully experienced “design team” as staff, as well as a completely unique touch-screen “Design Center” for customers’ convenience.
The Power of Home Design Center truly sets the store apart from traditional home furnishing retailers. This center includes cutting-edge advanced technology built specifically for the Power of Home and allows customers to virtually become their own personal interior designer using touch screen monitors. The Design Center, combined with an experienced design staff, creates a powerful tool set for the average person to design their personal spaces.
In addition to the Design Center and staff, The Power of Home intends to collaborate with professional interior designers for seminars and workshops held at the store location. These seminars, open to The Power of Home Members (free), will include topics such as: interior design techniques, industry and product trends, and other interior design concepts. Not only will this increase the skills and knowledge of customer base, but allows The Power of Home to promote local designers in the area.
Abbyson Corporation, dedicated to understanding and anticipating industry trends, knew this was a perfect next step for its company.
“This concept will be the future of retail home stores”, says Yavar Rafieha, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Abbyson. “We saw the opportunity and we decided to go for it. It is not new to see companies like ours venture in to retail, but we really wanted to bring something different and special to the industry. The Power of Home is exactly that” Rafieha said.
Abbyson Corporation, though proud of its new venture, does intend to keep The Power of Home separate from its regular trade.
Rafieha continues, “Abbyson will continue with business as usual. The Power of Home is a completely separate business, and though it will carry some Abbyson items, it will remain completely different from Abbyson Corporation”
One large difference evident in The Power of Home is its products. The Power of Home, though will carry bits and pieces of Abbyson’s beautiful rug and furniture products, will also include a variety of products from several different sources. The store will include: bedroom, living room, and dining room furniture, accessories, floor coverings, and will also expand to include kitchen and patio furniture. These products will all be available also on a full-functioning e-commerce website built for The Power of Home.
Alexandra DeCicco, Marketing and Sales Manger, believes the public will be surprised by the mix of styles available in the store. According to DeCicco, “The Power of Home is going to make a really exciting collection of products available. Often in stores you can only find ‘modern’, or ‘traditional’ styles sold separately. We wanted to include various different styles, but with the ability to mix and match. The Power of Home has so many unique furniture and accessory pieces, and no matter what the style, they are all centered on high fashion”
The products are not the only high fashion element to the store. Large investments in the architecture itself have been made for The Power of Home. Rafieha and DeCicco both agreed that no expense was spared. The store will be complete with bamboo flooring, sixteen-foot custom shelving, and even wireless home automation, a system which combines the entire store’s technology to one main computer. This system’s amazing features will be will be demonstrated in the store as it will also be available for purchase at The Power of Home. The Westfield Topanga sees this being a great fit with their recent renovations.
"Westfield is extremely excited to be working with the Power of Home team. We feel that the cutting-edge technology and immaculately designed new store will enhance the wide variety of retail that the newly expanded and remodeled Westfield Topanga has to offer. We are proud to be a part of the first Power of Home retail location and we are excited to introduce the store to our shoppers. Westfield is confident that the community will be thrilled with the selection, service and quality of the Power of Home."

The grand opening for The Power of Home will be May 2007, along side the grand opening of the extremely popular Swedish department store, Hennes and Mauritz (H&M). The Grand Opening Gala will be held June 23, 2007. The Power of Home is planning an extravagant affair complete with city officials and local celebrities as part of its lengthy guest list.
The Power of Home has plans to move to several additional Westfield’s locations through the next three years.
