Brown Investment Properties and Windsor Commercial Properties announce plans to offer residential condominiums and market showroom space with on-site parking as part of the renovation of a historic property in downtown High Point. The project at 212 North Main St., a 100-year-old, four-story building at the corner of Main Street and English Road, will feature 14 executive condominiums for sale on the upper floors and an 8,000 square-foot ground-floor showroom with entrances on Main and Wrenn streets for lease or sale. Ivan Garry, a Brown Investment Properties broker based in High Point and long-time furniture industry executive, will manage sales and leasing for the building. “For years I’ve thought that reasonably priced, residential condominiums in downtown High Point would be in high demand for market participants,” Garry said. “Brown Investment Properties had an opportunity to acquire this building and has put together an excellent team to develop it. I believe this limited number of downtown housing units will be very popular as will the showroom space.” Garry said the ground-floor space would be ideal for a company interested in operating a showroom at markets as well as a year-round retail business. Construction will begin the first week in April, and an open house is planned for the upcoming International Home Furnishings Market, April 22-29. The renovation is scheduled for completion in time for the October market. Charlotte architect Reg Narmour has designed eight floor plans for the 14 one- and two-bedroom condominiums, ranging from 700 to 1,540 square feet. Prices average $175,000, starting at $109,900 and topping out at $267,900. Exposed brick interior walls, vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors will be available in select units. The building, which developers have named “212 North Main,” was originally used for manufacturing tobacco products and then for years was the landmark home of Beeson Hardware.
