The new, two story, 57,000 sq. ft. Wolf Furniture showroom is now open on Valley Vista Drive, off North Atherton Street, next to Lowe’s. It is the largest furniture store in the region, employing approximately 30, including sales associates, office personnel, warehouse, housekeeping and managers.
Wolf’s has added innovative extras to the store, like the upstairs café’ where shoppers can browse through home decorating magazines or discuss home furnishing decisions, while enjoying free refreshments in a relaxing environment. There’s also a design center full of catalogs and swatches, plus a TV with relevant home furnishing programming. Children are welcome to play in Wolf’s “Kids Cottage” while parents shop. It’s a safe, indoor, soft playground and free childcare is provided during peak selling periods.
Wolf’s carries well-known furniture brands, like La-z-boy, Kincaid, Pennsylvania House, plus Sealy and Kingsdown bedding. But the Wolf’s buyers also shop markets worldwide to bring great values and outstanding home fashions to the area.
Whether you’re in the market for furniture or not, seeing the store’s décor is worth a visit. Customers marvel as they enter the showroom, not only at the vast selection before them, but at the aerial photos of various local landmarks and towns that are inlayed in the floor. Furniture is shown in inspirational room settings, with some of the most unique art and accessories in the area. And it is all available to purchase. Upstairs, the dinette department has hand-painted floors and over the café’ area, there’s a wall mural featuring historic scenes from Wolf’s 105 years in business.
Wolf Furniture was founded in Altoona in 1902. Headquarters are in Bellwood, PA, with eight store locations: Altoona, State College, Johnstown, Lancaster, Harrisburg and York, PA, Hagerstown and Frederick, MD. There is also a Wolf Furniture Clearance Outlet store located in Altoona. Another new Wolf’s showroom project in under way in Leesburg, VA and set to open next year.
