Journalist members of The International Alliance of Furnishings Publications (IAFP) will meet this summer in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the Summer 2007 Las Vegas Market at World Market Center.
The IAFP July meeting during Las Vegas Market will mark the first time the group has met in the United States and the first time many of the members have attended a U.S. home furnishings market.
Joe Carroll, publisher of Furniture/Today and chairman of the International Alliance of Furnishing Publications, said, “Las Vegas is an American icon. The members of the international press are excited by the prospect of visiting the city and covering the World Market Center, which is quickly gaining an important reputation in Asia.”
The IAFP was formed 10 years ago. Today it has 16, including two new publications, from Turkey and South Korea. Other members include the leading furniture publications from England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, China, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. The group last met in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in March, in conjunction with the Malaysian International Furniture Fair. The members of IAFP represent the top home furnishings publications in their countries, Carroll said.
The Summer 2007 Market is scheduled for July 30-August 3, 2007 at World Market Center Buildings A and B and Pavilions and July 31-August 2 at Sands Expo Center. The IAFP meeting is scheduled for August 1.
In addition to covering the market and attending their group functions, the IAFP members will be guests at the Market’s media events as well as special events hosted by the market and exhibitors.
Dana Andrew, director of marketing and public relations for World Market Center, said she is pleased these international journalists will have the opportunity to see Las Vegas Market first hand and to experience the excitement and hospitality unique to Las Vegas including world-class entertainment and fabulous restaurants.
“We welcome the IAFP to Las Vegas and are especially pleased to support their first meeting at a U.S. market,” Andrew said. “Our Summer Market will have very strong news appeal, with some of the special features we have planned including the Design & Living area, an exceptionally strong trends seminar series with leading experts in the fields of color and design, and the debut of the Living Green Pavilion, which is a new partnership with the Sustainable Furniture Council.
“Beyond these exciting highlights, with so many tenants and exhibitors introducing new product at Las Vegas Market, there will be a wide range of fresh looks and emerging styles in every category. Our style experts will make it easy to track trends by putting the latest fashions in context with new products from the show floor. This will allow buyers and journalists who attend Las Vegas Market the opportunity to see the applications and cover a number of trend-worthy things going on in home furnishings,” Andrew added.
World Market Center is an integrated home and hospitality contract furnishings showroom and convention complex in Las Vegas. When fully built, at 12 million square feet in 8 buildings, World Market Center will be the largest trade show complex in the world. The 12 million-square-foot campus will be completed by 2013 and will showcase furniture, decorative accessories, lighting, area rugs, home textile and related segments, as well as the Las Vegas Design Center (LVDC) open year-round to the trade. The second building opened in January, 2007; officials are now leasing the third building to a broad cross-section of the home furnishings industry.
