AWFS® Announces Appointment of Angelo Gangone, AWFS®Fair Director

The Association of Woodworking & Furnishing Suppliers® announced the appointment of Angelo Gangone as AWFS®Fair Director. He replaces Linda Schonwald who is leaving to pursue other interests. Gangone, formerly Business Development Manager of SCM Group USA, Inc. will be responsible for the management of the AWFS®Fair. In making the announcement, AWFS® Executive Director Dale Silverman said, “We are very excited to welcome Angelo to our staff. He will be a tremendous asset to the AWFS®Fair with his in-depth industry experience, knowledge of the trade press and keen understanding of the future of the industry.” Tom Orlando, President of AWFS® added, “We are delighted that a person of Angelo’s talent and experience is joining our staff in this leadership position. We are looking forward to his contributions as we work to make the AWFS®Fair even better for our exhibitors and attendees, and to make the Association more beneficial to our members. He knows quite a bit about our Association, being a member and an active volunteer on our committees for the past few years. He had just been installed as a member of the 2003 Board of Directors in February, which he has now resigned in order to accept this staff position.” Angelo Gangone has spent the last 11 years in the woodworking industry specifically with SCM Group USA. He established the marketing division for the company in 1992 and served as the company’s Marketing and Advertising Manager through May of 1997. He then became the Business Manager, responsible for sales of the company’s Standard machinery line. Since August of 2000, Gangone has split his responsibilities between marketing and advertising and sales management. Gangone received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management from Youngstown State University in 1987, and earned an MBA from Kent State University in 1991. Linda Schonwald will assist in the transition, working through the 2003 AWFS®Fair before leaving. “Linda was instrumental in helping us bring the show management of the AWFS®Fair in-house,” said AWFS® Executive Director Dale Silverman. “We are indebted to her contributions and hard work these past two years,and wish her all the best as she pursues her personal goals.” The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® (AWFS®) is the largest national trade association in the United States representing companies that supply the home and commercial furnishings industry.
