Dick Idol, arguably the most recognized name in rustic home décor, and several of his licensed brands announced that they have signed on to be the anchor exhibitors in the inaugural Rustic Pavilion at the Suites at Market Square at the Fall High Point Market, October 1-7, 2007.
Living the lifestyle of the authentic outdoorsman and adventurer, Dick Idol developed his passion for the outdoors by spending years actively pursuing his penchant for hunting, taxidermy and guiding in Alaska, Africa the American West and other big game frontiers. Today, he is an artist, writer, editor, public speaker, professional guide, hunter and a true icon in the outdoor world, especially in the home furnishings industry.
“I was thrilled to hear about this new pavilion to showcase products that exemplify the outdoor lifestyle that I live and breathe,” said Dick Idol. “The demand by consumers for this category of home furnishings is increasing, and this pavilion will help buyers find those unique products that excite consumers.”
At the Rustic Pavilion, Dick Idol will show his lines of case goods, upholstery, occasional furniture, lighting, decorative accessories, area rugs, permanent floral arrangements, wall décor and art, bedding ensembles, pillows and throws, cold cast sculptures, bronze sculptures, and dinnerware and stemware.
“When we decided to launch this Rustic Pavilion, our first thought was, Dick Idol,” said Walt Goldsby, vice president of leasing for Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI), which owns and operates the Suites at Market Square. “I think that’s the first name that comes to mind for most people when they think about this category of home furnishings.”
Several of the Dick Idol licensing partners have already signed on to participate in the Rustic Pavilion with Dick Idol, including Shadow Mountain, Wild Wings, Natural Creations, Klaussner, and 2Day Designs.
“The Dick Idol licensing partners were eager to take advantage of this great opportunity to show their products at the largest home furnishings market in the world,” said Jim Williams, of RWG Licensing LLC that manages the Dick Idol brand. “And, with the amount of marketing power MMPI is prepared to put behind this, it is sure to be a success.”
The Rustic Pavilion will occupy 5000 square feet on the first (top) floor of the Suites at Market Square in the heart of the High Point Market. The Suites at Market Square is the largest temporary exhibit building in High Point featuring more than 350 exhibitors in nearly 350,000 square feet.
According to Goldsby, the pavilion was created in response to the growing demand for rustic furniture and accessories. Creating one location for a concentrated offering of products in a single category makes shopping much easier for the buyers. The collection of lodge furnishings in the pavilion will supplement the leading manufacturers already exhibiting in the Suites at Market Square and Market Square, including Capel, Habersham, Old Hickory Tannery, Old World Stone and Iron, Shadow Mountain, 2 Day Designs, A. Tyner Antiques, African Market, Antiques and Interiors, Art by God, Barnwood Classics, Blue Ocean Traders, Chandler 4 Corners, Classic Concepts, CMI – Colonial Mills, David Lee Designs, Denali Home, Eurasi, Fishtales, Genesee River Trading, Gonzalez & Assoc., Groovystuff, Indus Design Imports, Kennedy’s Country Collection, Kiybele Copper & Wood, Laura Lee Designs, Legend Lighting, Mason – Maloof, Mexports, Michaelian Home, Olde Good Things, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Regina Andrew Designs, Rustic Traditions, Sanguine, Sonoran Range, Southern Splendor, Triple Creek, Whoa!, Wilson Clements Furniture, and Zaricor.
