The next planned retail site for Danish design company BoConcept is certain be one of its most exciting. Recently unveiling plans for an early July opening – store owners, Niki and Shaokao Cheng, are literally bursting with plans to launch their new Midtown Manhattan BoConcept store.
A series of launch events is being planned for the introduction of BoConcept to the Manhattan market. “We’re starting off with an opening reception in early-July, and have events planned that include a celebration of Fashion Week in September. These receptions, parties and special promotions will be of great interest to design enthusiasts throughout the area.” says Shaokao Cheng.
Shoppers visiting the impressive store can expect to find superbly priced, highly recognizable pieces for which BoConcept is known. Seating, particularly pieces like the Shell Chair, and Club Chair, have been strong sellers for the company nationwide and are expected to do equally well in Manhattan.
“We are working to bring chic, modern, and versatile furniture to fulfill the unique and diverse tastes of New Yorkers. The modularity and flexibility of the BoConcept furniture enables customers to create an individualized high-end look and feel to their home at an affordable price. As people and ideas change, furniture trends also change. The modularity of the BoConcept furniture allows for this design evolution without the cost of re-designing the home from scratch.” says Niki Cheng.
Premiering in July will be the Evo Chair – designed by Anders Noergaard – and inspired by the iconoclastic Egg Chair. The noble Evo Chair offers a variety of upholstery and base options and is certain to be very popular with fans of classic modern design.
Other key collections for BoConcept Manhattan include the Indivi Sofa, which, with its interchangeable legs, arms, cushions and fabric options, offers more than 12,900 striking configurations; and the Solid & Basic Bed – a solid maple creation that offers seductively simple lines in either maple or wengé (pronounced wen-gay) finishes.
BoConcept with its extremely competitive pricing offers superior design to a wide audience of consumers – something few retailers have been able to manage. “We offer style and space conscious design that people can buy,” says Niki Cheng of her inventory. “Not furniture they WISH they could afford.”
Set in a former Persian carpet-store, the 105 Madison Avenue location offers a sleek 4600 square feet of open floor space, marked by 17 foot ceilings and a central BoConcept Workshop that offers shoppers a chance to virtually make over their rooms using the Furnish Lite® 3-D graphics program where shoppers can plot and decorate their home on the computer. The corner location of the store allows for an abundance of natural light that floods through giant windows looking out on the bustling sidewalks.
Located in Midtown on the corner of 30th and Madison Avenue, BoConcept will join other destination interior design stores like Domus Design Center, and Roche Bobois to create a neighborhood where New Yorkers can explore a range of interior choices that contrast and compliment each other.
“This is a retail district that is evolving,” says Cheng of the location. “It has a rich heritage, impressive landmarks within steps of our address, a great deal of natural foot traffic, and is central for all Manhattanites looking for variety in their retail diets. It’s a beautiful store in one of the best locations in the world!”
