Metropolitan Home and the New York Design Center announced that the sixth annual Design Cares charity auction and holiday cocktail party will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 11, 2007. The design community’s crème de la crème will come together to celebrate the holidays at this highly anticipated, festive affair and participate in the silent auction benefitting the Partnership for the Homeless’ “Furnish a Future” program. Nearly 150 modern luxury home furnishings, home accessories and lifestyle goods from some of the world’s top designers and companies will be on display for guests to bid on.
“It is an honor for the magazine to co-host this heartfelt event and help make giving back to the community more accessible for our guests,” says Metropolitan Home’s Editor-in-Chief, Donna Warner. “Together, along with the gala attendees and the funds raised through the silent auction, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.”
Design Cares offers attendees a unique opportunity to shop for a variety of gifts for the home just in time for the holidays. This year approximately 500 industry influencers are expected to attend the chic charitable soiree. Throughout the evening guests will enjoy festive food, cocktails and music as they celebrate the season of giving at this Holiday event.
Developed as a fundraiser for worthwhile New York City charities, the Design Cares event has grown to become an annual success story providing hope for those in need. Similar to year’s past, the 2007 event will include generous donations from major brands including Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams, Lulu DK for Elite Leather, American Leather, CB2, Thomasville, W Hotels, Baker Furniture and the Conran Shop to name a few, giving attendees a unique opportunity to participate in the spirit of giving by bidding on luxurious auction items.
”We are delighted to co-host Design Cares with Metropolitan Home and provide help to Furnish a Future,” says Jim Druckman, President and CEO of the New York Design Center. “The Holidays are such a critical time of year and we look forward to helping many families make a fresh start with the funds raised from the auction.”
The annual Design Cares event is open to the public and will be held at the New York Design Center located at 200 Lexington Avenue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 11. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit a local non-profit organization, Partnership for the Homeless and their “Furnish a Future” program, giving Metropolitan Home, the New York Design Center and the community an opportunity to give back to homeless families and individuals looking for a brighter future.
