New Superstore In Milford, Ct For Pilgrim Furniture

Pilgrim Furniture City , the former NHFA Retailer of the Year is currently constructing a new superstore in Milford, CT. The Connie Post Companies was again chosen to design the store design project. The project’s exterior will be 327 feet long and at points up to approximately forty-four feet high. Dave Coll, director of design for The Connie Post Companies offers a sneak peak at project details: “The exterior features stacked stone veneer, a red metal roof that ties into their corporate color scheme, liberal use of sky lighting and solar paneling, Bahamian-inspired metal shutters and decorative gable trusses. The architectural design is meant to differentiate Pilgrim Furniture City from any other retailers in the area.” The store’s interior, is approximately 76,000 square feet. Mike Albert, president of Pilgrim Furniture City comments, “Our budget was not large, about $25 per square foot, but the look is worth twice that. The store is wide open with really cool graphics.” Additionally, Alpert points to the uniqueness of the designs, which “have created a great destination for our customers. How many other furniture stores have a carousel to entertain every woman and child from three to 80? How many other furniture stores have a 2500-square-foot skylight? This store will also be the largest commercial solar powered building in New England. We have two large skylights that Connie has really done some unique things with.” Says Post, “Additional details will be made available regarding the interior as we move forward. All I can say now is lookout for this new store concept.
